Ambassador Spotlight: Keely C. Tuggle
Name: Keeley Tuggle
Organization and job title: Director of Corporate and Donor Engagement, HumanKind
How many years have you been with your organization? I’m in my first year at HumanKind and LOVING it!
What’s your favorite part of your job? Meeting people in the community who are invested in making change happen for those in need, and building a relationship to ensure they are able to support others in a way that is meaningful to them.
What is your favorite part of being an ambassador? Supporting new and existing businesses as we collectively help the region thrive.
How has Alliance membership benefitted your business? Hosting events and gatherings that provide educational and business development opportunities. LRBA strengthens our community by connecting us, creating opportunities for dialog, and encouraging partnerships across industries.
What is your single best piece of advice to new members, so they can take full advantage of their membership? I need to list two things: 1. Attend as many events as possible to learn what others are doing in Lynchburg and to collaborate with them. 2. Attend orientation to learn about all the ways to maximize your benefits!
Do you have any advice for someone who is considering becoming an Alliance member? If you’ve not yet decided to join LRBA, I invite you to join us at our next gathering – then find me to let me know you are new. I’d love to get to know you and introduce you to !
Do you have a memorable experience while serving as an ambassador? Having a big public campaign at a new job and the joy of seeing my fellow LRBA Ambassadors and LRBA staff show up to support!
What is your favorite quote to live by and why? Not necessarily a quote, but more like mindsets: 1. Let’s make it work. 2. Connection over perfection.
What is one thing that others wouldn’t necessarily know? I have worked in for-profit and non-profit; even being recognized as the youngest and only female Director of Operations in the hardwood flooring industry in the U.S. at the time. My male peers would look at me like I was a unicorn when they saw me at our conventions.
What could you give a presentation on or talk about for hours without any preparation? How important it is to spend time with those you love.
How else are you involved in the community? I have a heart for service, but the organizations that I’ve volunteered in for the longest stretches of time are Lynchburg City Schools and Lynchburg Humane Society.
When I’m not at work I like to: Besides soaking up every moment with my kids, I like to read and travel.
What’s your favorite/go to lunch spot and what’s your choice of lunch there? Jersey Mike’s, hands down! #7 in a tub (or on gluten free bread), Mike’s Way, add extra pickles.
If you had to eat at one restaurant in the Lynchburg region every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Isabella’s, of course!
What is your favorite item you’ve purchased this year? Souvenirs from the best places I’ve traveled in the past 9 months: Boston and Salem, MA / San Diego, CA / St. Augustine, FL / Toronto, Canada / Cape May, NJ
What are you reading or listening to right now? Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors and just finishing The Identicals. (It’s not a shocker that Nantucket is on my trave list!) I’m always listening to throwback R&B.
Favorite vacay spot and why? I love to go to new places to see different things, but Cape May, NJ will always be my ‘home beach’ and one of my favorite places. Looking forward to an upcoming trip to Italy, Greece and Malta – so ask me again after that!
What’s a fun thing you like to do in our region? The Lynchburg Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning! It’s the most festive way to kick-off the day with 4,000 of our neighbors raising money to help those in need – a win-win!
